Yes, I just found this out, after owning the car since LAST February.

I can do this in my saturn, too.

My 2007 Focus does not do this
I may or may not remember properly, but I believe my 1987 Saab 900 does this

My FRS and my 99 Golf TDI both will do this until you open a door. Check and mate sucker.

I remember cars of that era touting power accessory usage after deactivating the car for a short time as a feature.

IT'S A 98 CAMRY HOW DARE YOU.
It also does not work once you open a door.

I remember one day it was raining like crazy and this lady in a GS350 made a dash for it holding the unlock button on the fob......all 4 windows went down and the sunroof opened lol

yea my milan can use all accessory functions until I open a door...

I hate my 2012 Focus for not doing this. Not even in the ACC position. I really need to rewire it but haven't had time to research it.

I just founf out yesterday in my 2013 Dart that I can configure how long I want the accessories to be powered after i kill the ignition and pull the key

Yup, it's on a delay. My IS does this, but only for the driver's side and sunroof. There's a way to increase the delay, but there's no real point.

You can take the key out of a fair amount of cars while running. You could literally start it, take the key out, and drive away. I had a 94 Pontiac and a 96 Ford that would do this. Whether or not it was an intended feature is open for debate.

Reminds me of the VW commercial when the guy lowers all the windows with the key and his wife looks at him like "this mother f*cker"

1997 GTP did this. And I still had the radio for 20 minutes.

I had a GM made small truck (coughcoughisuzuhombrecough) that had a radio that wouldn't turn off until you open the door.... locked my keys in it twice because after parking and shutting it off, we'd listen to the radio for a bit then get out and go do whatever.

My wife had a 2001 Focus and with the car off if you held down the power button long enough the radio turned on.

I could put my '77 Firebird in accessory without a key. Thanks to my aunt the previous owner and her 20lb keychain
WHERE WAS MY RECALL GM??

Yeah for getting the supposedly top of the line "SES" I thought I'd have some features on this 2007 that were on my 2000 ZX3. But, apart from having a tilt/telescoping wheel, this 2007 is nowhere near my 2000's quality.

Stops when you open the door. radio should still play as well... til you open a door.

lol oh yeah, i think i remember that. Shifter ball on the automatics get hot on the IS300

I could start my 78 olds cutlass and pull the key out.
I could also shift the transmission by grabbing the steering column with both hands and twisting it.
To clarify the above. They used the same column for floor or column mounted shifters and when you shifted with a floor mounted shifter(Auto) the column would move so you could move the column and see the floor shifter move.

Never had that issue on mine (shifter ball is the same, but the thread is different on manuals). But then again I use a sunshade.

I can do this in my 2000 Buick.
I just feel like gloating.

2000 Buick LeSabre
Windows and cig lighters all work with the ignition off and key out after shutting off the car for 15 minutes or until a door is opened, whichever comes first.
Radio will also keep playing.
Checkmate, suckers.

My wife's 2011 Golf has this, but in the most absurdly brain-dead way possible: it only works with the key, not via the fob. But to get to the keyhole, you have to lever off the trim around the door handle.
Apparently, with the right software, you can enable it to open/close the windows with the lock and unlock buttons on the fob, but why they have it key-only by default, I cannot fathom.

Radio is afromarket, so not sure if that matters but it doesn't stay on. Lights stay on too., all until a door is opened.

If I hit the gas fast enough in my 89 Supra, the keys would fall out and onto my lap while driving. I called it my "anti-hooning device".

If it was installed correctly it should if its newish. basically anything that runs when the key is in the ACC (accessory) slot should run at this point.
![]() 06/13/2014 at 12:26 |

Yeah most modern cars let you do that. Can your car do this though?:
![]() 06/13/2014 at 12:49 |

Only when driving.
I can't find a video, but when you do this on a Mazda with BOSE it sounds like Close Encounters. BEEEE BOOO BAAAAA BOWWWWW BEEEEE WOOOOO

I find most cars will also let you adjust the power seats with the ignition off.

My dad's Silverado does this unless you open the door. Nice feature to have when you turn the car off and your idiot passenger forgets to roll up their window.

Turn down your speakers....
